Removing someone’s constitutionally protected rights should be one of the hardest things for a government to do. This law would allow remove a person’s right to bear arms for a crime that generally has no jail time attached. Currently, Hawaii law prohibits a person with a DUI from owning firearms UNTIL they get a medical clearance letter from a doctor saying they are not adversely affected by Alcohol.
